Conwy lies on the north coast of Wales, with views across the sea to the Welsh island of Anglesey. Surrounded by beautiful beaches and mountains, and containing some lovely shops and restaurants Conwy is known as the jewel in North Wales’ crown. With all these sights to see and activities to do, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Here are our top five things to do in Conwy, north wales!

1) Conwy Castle

One of the largest and most impressive castles in Europe. The town was built around it by Edward I when he made Conwy one of his northern military bases. It’s a stunning medieval fortress that sits on top of a rocky outcrop high above sea level and has sweeping views across Snowdonia National Park. There are lots of nooks and crannies to explore as well as three miles of walls for you to walk along. It also happens to be one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites so there’s plenty here for history buffs too.

2) The Smallest House in Wales

One of my favourite places to visit is The Smallest House in Wales. It’s not really a house at all but it is quaint and adorable so it has won many awards. If you’re interested in how some people used to live during Victorian times then I would recommend that you take a look at The Smallest House in Wales. You can find out more about how they lived and discover what hard work they had to do just for basic necessities such as lighting. It’s truly amazing!

3) RSPB Conwy – Birdwatching

The RSPB reserve is a fantastic place for birdwatchers and other nature lovers. In fact, some of Britain’s most rare birds and plants have been spotted here. To encourage visitors like you to get out there and enjoy these Welsh wonders for yourselves, there are guided tours that take you through RSPB Conwy. The experts will tell you all about what you can see when you go birdwatching at RSPB Conwy as well as what other wildlife is around too!

4) Sychnant Pass Walk

This family-friendly walk starts at Sychnant Pass and takes you through a landscape of sheep pastures and woodland. The scenery is spectacular, so bring your camera! There are picnic tables available at both ends of the walk if you’d like to stop off for a snack or drink.

5) Bodnant Gardens

These 25-acre botanical gardens include three million plants and represent over five centuries of Welsh horticulture. It is also home to one of Britain’s oldest oak trees and is a fantastic spot for picnics and outdoor activities. Bodnant Gardens are open every day except Christmas Day. The gardens are located near Eglwysbach, which is about two miles from Conwy. And you can easily get there by bus or taxi.
