The Royal Belfast Golf Club

Founded in 1881, Royal Belfast Golf Club is the oldest club in Ireland and one of the four ‘Royal’ courses. The clubhouse, built c.1852 as a private residence for a Belfast linen manufacturer and eventually owned by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, has a beautiful Victorian splendour with unequalled views across Belfast Lough.

The course, a par 70, was designed by H.S. Colt in 1925 with the assistance of Walker Cup player W.A. Murray. Colt produced a course of great charm in one of the loveliest settings with unrivalled views across the Lough and the Antrim plateau beyond.

Par: 70
Yards: 6306
Signature hole: The par 4, 1st. One of the best opening holes in Irish golf - it measures 415 yards from the back tee with a slight ‘dog-leg’ left rising to a green, which is probably the most difficult on the course. A great start with much more to come!
